Bernhard Liese
Georgetown Nursing Department of International Health

Bernhard Liese is director of the Master of Science in Global Health Program in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, as well as a professor in the Department of International Health in the School of Health. He joined the Georgetown faculty in 2002 and is a member of the Global Health Initiative faculty committee.
International activities include:
- Served at the World Bank as director of the health services department, senior advisor for human development, operations advisor, and principal tropical-disease specialist; he also served as senior advisor for HIV/AIDS in UNDP’s Global Health Program.
- Led the Health Policy Desk in the Federal Ministry of Health in Germany.
- Member of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, and Deutsche Tropenmedizinische Gesellschaft.
- Author of over 15 works in 42 publications.
