Bernhard Liese

Bernhard Liese is director of the Master of Science in Global Health Program in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, as well as a professor in the Department of International Health in the School of Health. He joined the Georgetown faculty in 2002 and is a member of the Global Health Initiative faculty committee.

International activities include:

• Served at the World Bank as director of the health services department, senior advisor for human development, operations advisor, and principal tropical-disease specialist; he also served as senior advisor for HIV/AIDS in UNDP’s Global Health Program.
• Led the Health Policy Desk in the Federal Ministry of Health in Germany.
• Member of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, and Deutsche Tropenmedizinische Gesellschaft.
• Author of over 15 works in 42 publications.
